With Ashley still in the doghouse, Cheryl Cole turns to a faithful companion - her chihuahua

With a loyal companion in short supply thanks to her husband's indiscretions, Cheryl Cole has turned to the most faithful male in her life - her chihuahua Buster.

The singer was thrilled to be reunited with her pup after a Girls Aloud performance in Brighton last night, nursing him on her lap as she headed back to her hotel.

The 24-year-old was driven away by her band mate Nicola Roberts, who strangely decided to play chauffeur for the evening.

Buster has been a stalwart figure for Cheryl - after all, she dressed him in his own special diamante-studded outfit at her £1 million wedding to Ashley in 2006.

While her affection for him remains strong - her marriage hasn't faired so well.

The couple haven't been seen together since allegations of his infidelities surfaced in January, and neither have resumed wearing their wedding ring.

Cheryl has thrown herself into work, and is in the middle of their sell-out Tangled Up! tour, their fourth tour in the six years they've been together.

It appears to be a welcome distraction for Cheryl, who said recently: "There's always something going on, people having a gossip or sharing a joke and it's really homely.

"We've got stacks of DVDs – Friends, Only Fools and Horses which Sarah really loves and lots of chick flicks."

Girls Aloud are scheduled to perform at the London's 02 tomorrow.
