Nicole Kidman emerges victorious, wins damages over perfume claim
Nicole Kidman finally had the last laugh yesterday when she accepted damages from The Daily Telegraph newspaper for falsely reporting that the actress breached the terms of her promotional deal with Chanel.
The browhaha started when The Daily Telegraph reported in its ‘Spy’ column last month that Kidman carried a bottle of a competitor’s perfume while she was in London to promote her latest film, The Golden Compass. The 40-year-old leggy actress took this false claim seriously and filed a legal suit against the newspaper.
Kidman’s lawyer, John Kelly, who was present in the court on behalf of her client, told that the actress was considerably shaken due to the false report. Though the details of the settlement were not disclosed, it is learnt that the newspaper has agreed to pay Kidman’s legal costs and ’substantial’ damages.
Meanwhile, the good news concerning this legal turmoil is that the actress has decided to donate the entire amount to the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
