Billie Piper strip for sex scenes in Diary Of A Call Girl

She's had no problem stripping off on-screen, despite her husband's reservations.

But it appears motherhood has prompted a change of heart for Billie Piper.

The 27-year-old actress, who plays a high-class prostitute in the popular television series, Diary Of A Call Girl, admits that she feels a lot more awkward peeling off since the birth of her first child in October.

She is currently filming the final series of the controversial show, which features a number of raunchy sex scenes. And she admitted feeling 'dirty' when she then headed home to be with her 15-month-old son, Winston.

She said: 'I'm aware of the fact that you have a child, yet here you are again, with another actor, pretending to be prostitute.

'I'm not shy of a sex scene, but these scenes aren't just pretend penetration in your pants, they're really exposing. There was one where I had to do it doggy style and make animal noises.

'And there is a part of me that thinks: "I have to go home and feed my son now, and I'm going to need several showers before that. And a lot of praying".'

'I just hope I raise my son as someone who's really open-minded. And forgiving.'

Since having her baby, Piper also starred in a Kay Mellor film, A Passionate Woman, which also features several sex scenes.

'There seems to be a bit of a theme emerging here, she added. 'That's what my husband said. He said: "Some day, you're going to have to rein it in".'

Speaking to the Observer, she added: 'I have accepted now, which is quite a hard thing to do, that your career choices are going to be dictated by your family.

You can't just go off and do certain things any more, you can't be as wild and free-spirited. I accept that there are certain things professionally I can't really do now. Once you get over that, it's quite liberating actually.'

Miss Piper has also hit out at critics who have accused her of glamourising prostitution through her portrayal of Belle de Jour.

The series is based on the real life story of Dr Brooke Magnanti - a high-end London call girl turned university lecturer, who only revealed her identity in November, after six years writing and blogging anonymously about her experiences.

Last year, she the programme was lambasted by the Archbishop of York, for misleading the public over the reality of prostitution.

He said that the lifestyle portrayed in the works was in stark contrast to the suffering endured by the majority of women who work as prostitutes.

But Piper has said that Magnanti's life was 'exciting and thrilling'.

Asked if Magnanti, 34, was a victim, she said: 'She just wasn't. And we told it how she told it. It's not like we made her story glamorous and fluffy. She found it exciting and thrilling – very different to what other prostitutes are exposed to.'

Magnanti said in an interview that sometimes she misses her life as a prostitute.

'I can relate to that,' said Piper.

'In the sense that I miss acting when I'm not doing it – just because it's fun, eventful and strange. She may have enjoyed her line of work for the same reason – dominating men, pleasing men, being the centre of attention. I imagine it can all get quite addictive.'

Everyone else was swimming, tanning, or absorbed in a good book.

But Billie Piper only had eyes for her sleepy two-month-old son.

She gazed down at him as he lay on her lap, stretching his fat little arms in the warmth.

Miss Piper, 26, and husband Laurence Fox, 30, have been holidaying in the U.S. ahead of their first wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve.

An onlooker said: 'She looked relaxed, content and just generally very happy. Billie clearly adores her son.'

The pair are staying at the prestigious Shore Club hotel in Miami Beach.

They the afternoon on a public beach, ordering only soft drinks from the bar. Fox attempted to read and sunbathe, while Piper relaxed in the shade and cradled the child, who was wrapped in a sarong.

But the couple shared equally their parenting roles.

Winston has only been seen a handful of times in public since he was born after a gruelling 26 hour labour by Caesarean section at the private Portland Hospital in London on October 21.

But despite yesterday's scenes Billie's stay surely won't be all about the family.

The hotel is described as 'party central' at this time of year, charging a minimum of £450 a night. On New year's Eve it will see US rap mogul P Diddy will host one of the biggest parties in America.

All day yesterday he entertained his guests by sending fleets of bi-planes soaring above with a picture of him on a banner and the words 'I Am The King'.

Intriguingly however, Miss Piper has given fellow celebrity hotel guest Charlotte Church a wide berth.

Miss Church was seen yesterday parading around the Shore Club with a gaggle of girlfriends and without her partner, rugby star Gavin Hensen, or their children.

Billie, the star of ITV's Secret Diary Of A Call Girl has said she plans to take a break from acting to concentrate on her family.

But in recent months she has been tipped to become the first female Time Lord in Doctor Who, after lead David Tennant revealed he was quitting at the end of 2009.

Piper was a huge hit with fans and critics when she played the Doctor's assistant Rose Tyler when the show was revived for modern audiences in 2005.

Tennant has given her his influential seal of approval and because the role is not free for another year, this could give Piper the time she needs to spend with her family.

Asked if Miss Piper could take on the role, he said a female Doctor was a distinct possibility.

'Why not?' he said. 'It's one of those parts any actor could bring something valid to, because it can be anything and it's a blank canvas every time.

Tennant will leave after completing four special episodes of Doctor Who to air next year.

Executives are looking for a new Time Lord for the fifth series, scheduled to broadcast in 2010.

Speaking about her pregnancy recently, Billie revealed she is mildly apprehensive about the birth, and has become fanatical about having scans.

'Some women are all about this glowing, blooming thing, aren't they?' she told The Observer.

'I haven't really tapped into that. I've basically replaced all my vices for a new one - control.

'I've had about 10 scans and I bought one of those baby heart monitor things. Such a bad idea - its like listening to a huge shell on the beach.

'But I do love it. The whole thing is just so sweet, tender and adorable.'

The 25-year-old actress who is married to actor Laurence Fox has kept herself busy throughout her pregnancy, filming the entire second series of raunchy ITV drama Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, despite the fact that she felt like a 'sweating sea cow' for most of it.

‘I found the heat very uncomfortable,’ she revealed. ‘I was thirsty all the time and always needing the toilet – which is really unhelpful when working to such a tight schedule!’

'I needed two body doubles in the end. As I got more and more pregnant I began to gain weight so it looked silly having a really skinny body double.'

The second series of the show, which is a big hit in the US, begins next month.

Billie looks set to name ex-husband Chris Evans as her baby’s godparent.

The actress split from the Radio 2 DJ in 2004, following a whirlwind three year romance.

The actress' swelling bosom somewhat gives the game away, but all other signs of her pregnancy are concealed.

‘He’s doing moussakas, Greek salads and meze.’

The couple are 'over the moon' about their baby, due at New Year, around the time of their first wedding anniversary.
