Soul singer Joss Stone has traded her bare feet and curly hippy hairstyle for a tight headdress and restrictive Tudor dress.

The 21-year-old makes her TV acting debut with her new role in the BBC's sexy historical drama The Tudors.

Joss is playing Henry VIII's fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, who is believed to have been the most unattractive of Henry's six wives.

'It may not be the most glamorous role - Anne was meant to be ugly - but Joss had a lot of fun,' says a BBC source.

The Tudor King married Anne after seeing a portrait of her.

But when he met her, Henry famously called her a 'Flanders mare'.

Their marriage was annulled soon afterwards.

In the TV series, Henry - played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers - will storm out of their bedroom on their wedding night, claiming Anne is too ugly for him to consummate their marriage.

But it seems Joss hasn't let her short-lived role deter her from her acting ambitions.

'She thinks it's a stepping stone to other acting roles,' says the source.

The Grammy award-winning actress has also appeared as the Cadbury's Flake girl and got her breakthrough role in fantasy film Eragon in 2006.

The Tudors returns for its third series later this year.

It appears Joss Stone may have found love again.

After three years of singlehood, the soul diva is reportedly smitten with her new boyfriend - who works in the building trade.

Joss, 21, has been seeing 'brickie' Danny Radford since last summer but is said to have known him for most of her life.

Danny, who lives with his parents close to Joss's family home, is a far cry from the glamour of her previous boyfriend, the son of Motown producer Lamont Dozier.

The Grammy Award winner is reportedly enjoying the down-to-earth relationship as they have been keen to avoid the public eye.

But the pair were pictured at a Halloween party earlier this year looking very much an item as Joss licked the 19-year-old while posing for the camera.

A source told The Sun: 'Joss and Danny are definitely an item now. He's been staying with her at her home in Devon when she's home from Los Angeles. They're inseparable.

Earlier this year, the singer admitted she would like to find love again after splitting from her first love Beau Dozier in 2005.

'Looking back now, I wonder if it really was love between Beau and me.

'I think it must have been deep infatuation based on lust.'

Joss seems to be taking a leaf out of the Hollywood starlets' book as she is not the first to get up close and personal with a builder.

Cameron Diaz is currently dating former Essex 'brickie' Paul Sculfor, who previously dated Jennifer Aniston.

British born actor and model Paul is a close friend of Victoria Beckham and has also dated Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lisa Snowdon.

He and Cameron began dating quietly in June, not long after he split from former Friends star Rachel.
